A small section of the Tapton flats

The Tapton flats were a free running hotspot in Sheffield, England. The area consisted of a large number of abandoned buildings with flat rooves and knocked out windows, making them an ideal spot for parkour.

The area was previously halls of residence for the University of Sheffield, but all students were relocated in 2008[1][citation needed]. Although the area was abandoned and cordoned off, it was still used by some and skaters had built a skatepark there[2].

To the disappointment of many free runners, the flats were demolished in early December 2009[3].
